CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIESIn The Prep School
At Sherfield School, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our Prep co-curricular programme offers a rich and diverse range of activities that allow children to explore passions, build new skills and grow in confidence.
In Junior Prep, pupils enjoy daily opportunities such as Music & Movement, Craft, Sustainability, Multisports and Live WorldWise, as well as optional specialist clubs including ballet, fencing, tennis, football and art.
In Senior Prep, the experience becomes even more exciting. Pupils can access:
- A wide range of after-school clubs
- Specialist sports coaching and competitive fixtures
- Music, drama and arts enrichment
- The innovative Prep Pathway Programme, where pupils pursue ambitious projects like CodeX, Modern Pentathlon, Sherfield Catwalk or the Food Festival, culminating in a showcase event for families and the wider school community
The Pathway Programme
Developing a thriving enrichment programme is essential for our young people of today. We believe these extracurricular skills promote employability and academic attainment and teach students the skills to make good, informed choices.
Our pathway programme develops the “soft skills” that employers and universities look for while also giving students the opportunity to discover their interests and passions.
The Pathway Programme begins in Year 5 and nurtures talents in two chosen areas. The five pathways include:
| Performing Arts |

|
| Maths and Coding |
|
| Sherfield Farm |
|
| Language and Literature |
|
| Art and Design |
|

A new pathway for gymnastic activities and trampolining links to local centres. Pathways are introduced in early September, and children are allowed to select their top three choices.

Sports
We believe in our pupils' holistic development, and games and physical education (PE) play a pivotal role in achieving this goal.
We offer a wide range of activities, including athletics, gymnastics, swimming, and team sports like football, rugby, basketball, and netball. Our dedicated PE staff ensures that each student receives personalised attention to enhance their skills and confidence in physical activities.
Sherfield School boasts state-of-the-art facilities for various sports and games, providing our students with ample opportunities to explore and excel. Our expansive grounds accommodate multiple outdoor sports, while our indoor facilities cater to activities like badminton and basketball.
All pupils in our Junior Prep and Senior Prep participate in weekly swim lessons and enjoy weekly PE lessons from specialised teachers.
From Year 3, pupils also participate in weekly games afternoon. Participation in interschool competitions and local tournaments is encouraged across all sports and age groups from Year 3. These events provide a platform for our students to showcase their talents and instil values of resilience, dedication, and teamwork.

For pupils passionate about tennis and golf, Sherfield School offers specialised academies led by experienced coaches. These academies provide a structured training program that combines skill development with competitive opportunities, allowing students to progress and achieve their potential in these sports.
