Sherfield School offers a variety of boarding options to suit different needs.

This includes full boarding, weekly boarding, and flexi-boarding for students aged 9 to 18 (Year 5 to Year 13).

We provide a convenient shuttle service for our weekly boarders to and from Basingstoke railway station, which has direct trains to London Waterloo every 15 minutes, with a journey time of just 47 minutes. This allows our students to enjoy the serene countryside during the week and the vibrant city life at weekends, offering the best of both worlds.

Archer's Lodge: A Home Away from Home

Our purpose-built boarding house, Archer's Lodge, offers 50 en-suite rooms for boarders from Year 5 upwards. Each room is designed with comfort and functionality in mind, featuring internet access, a study area, a comfortable bed, bedside cabinet, chest of drawers, wardrobe, and a spacious en-suite bathroom. Boys' and girls' bedrooms and bathrooms are located in separate wings to ensure privacy.

Boarders at Archer's Lodge are cared for by a resident House Master, House Parents, and several live-in tutors. Additional boarding tutors live on the school site, providing comprehensive support. The House Master is responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of the boarders, working closely with the boarding staff team during weekends and evenings.

We make available to all parents, carers, and guardians our Statement of Boarding Principles and Practices, Guardians and Lodgings policy, and Guardian Agreement.

Facilities and Activities

Each floor of Archer's Lodge has generously-sized common rooms equipped with living, dining, and kitchen facilities. These common rooms offer comfortable seating, video and digital TV, board games, and books, creating a welcoming and homely atmosphere. When the weather is fine, the terrace is a popular spot with shaded tables and seating.

Our aim is to foster a home-from-home environment where boarders can mix and feel like part of a family.

During evenings and weekends, we organise a varied and fun schedule of trips and activities, allowing boarders to make the most of the school's facilities and the beautiful surrounding countryside, while being close to London and the coast
